Since the CMTS is web-based, you don't install it on a computer (as in the past). Instead, it can used from virtually anywhere. However, you will need a few things in place before you can do so:
- PC Computer (Mac or handheld devices won't work)
- Disable all pop-up blocking features (in Windows and any others, such as Google, Yahoo, etc)
- An active internet connection (preferrably broad-band, since dial-up will be very slow)
- Internet Explorer 6 or higher (you MUST use this browser and NOT Firefox, Safari etc)
- Adobe Acrobat Reader or any other PDF-compatible software (for viewing reports)
- When using the CMTS, don't have any other browswer windows open
- If your district utlizes any web caching servers, have your technology department set the web caching to ignore ip address 174.132.214.178
Most PC computers come pre-installed with everything above. However, if you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, it is a free download. Click here to download it. As an alternative, you can also use Foxit Reader, which also works equally well. Foxit can be downloaded here.
